Complaints to the CCEA about these two fences have been growing and when we reach out to the city for action, nothing happens.
#1 – The Walled Compound.
Some compare it to a war-torn middle east fortress house. By code no front fence can exceed 42 inches, and no gate can obstruct a driveway. Erected a few short years ago during a home remodel, this fence has been subject to constant complaints. Glendale Community development says the owner has filed for a variance hearing to make it legal. (The CCEA will call for opposition)
#2 – The Great Wall of Glendale.
It’s so big and ugly it can be seen from the space station. Multiple complaints. A permit was applied for after the wall was built! So far, no action by Glendale Planning. It is referred to by a City Council Member in the video below.
The city code restrictions on fences are clear, they’re written in black and white.
So why is nothing being done?

I filed a complaint with the city regarding the Great Wall of Glendale, three months ago, pretty much as it was being constructed. I received a couple of notices that they would send an inspector to check on compliance and a day or so later I received a notice that the case had been closed. Naturally, I assumed that a permit had been pulled, and that the fence was within code. I guess I was mistaken.
