National Night Out

The Glendale Police Department is hosting its 4th annual National Night Out Workshop on May 4 from 6:30-8pm at GPD headquarters 131 N. Isabel St. National Night Out is an event held across the nation to heighten crime prevention awareness among residents. Last year, CCEA sponsored a gathering for residents on National Night Out that was the beginning of our own CCEA Neighborhood Watch Program. We now have over a dozen block captains throughout the canyon who are encouraging residents to provide contact information and get to know their neighbors in order to increase awareness of suspicious activity in the canyon and prevent crime through involvement in a local crime prevention program. The Block Captains are the liaisons between the residents and GPD including our very own Officer Sue Shine. Neighborhood Watch strengthens this community-police partnership and sends a message that neighborhoods are organized against crime.

The Workshop at GPD on May 4 is open to all. It will include information on how to participate in Neighborhood Watch and to prepare for this year’s National Night Out to be held August 2, 2011.
