Oak Grove Destruction Alert – 2971 Saint Gregory Rd.
Glendale’s Indigenous (Protected) Tree Ordinance has recently been amended, to make it stronger, they say, to offer more protection for our mature native oaks and sycamores, they say.
Developers aim to chop down an entire grove of “protected” trees in our canyon. So will the Indigenous Tree Ordinance protect them, or is it merely smoke and mirrors?
We will find out on Feb 13th when the Design Review Board hears the case.
The story poles are up, and have been curiously altered.
On 1/26/2025 the poles showed the front largest tree was to be chopped.
A week later, when the DRB hearing was announced, two banners stretching over doomed oak trees had been cut.

We urge concerned Chevy Chase residents to drive by 2971 Saint Gregory Road and see for themselves.

A Final Word
The Design Review Board’s “compromise” for chopping down a grove of mature protected oaks may be for the developer to plant new ones at the back of the lot as replacements. This is what the replacements would look like. Protected Trees in Glendale? Really?
